So I thought I would write before work today. Watching a little ESPN while I wait for a load of laundry to finish in the wash. The keep talking about how LSU and Alabama are going to play again for the BCS title. I really don’t think that is fair. Here’s why:
1) Ok they play. God forbid LSU lose. Where is the third game in the series going to be played and when? Maybe in Tiger Stadium since Alabama got a home game for Game 1? If Alabama were to win that would give each team one win and one loss. In every other sport there would be a tiebreaker. Not football though. Congrats you won the first time, but that doesn’t mean anything now. People scream about getting rid of the BCS and bringing in a playoff system. That’s fine, but you can’t suddenly decide you LOOOOOOVE the BCS when it benefits you.
2) Let’s say Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, which they have done plenty of times in the past. With Alabama having a bye on Saturday since they DIDN’T WIN THE SEC WEST *cough LSU *cough wouldn’t that hurt them? OKSU is #3 right now and is playing a Top Ten team in Oklahoma. Not a walk in the park. Wouldn’t a win against Oklahoma possibly leap frog them over Alabama to #2?
I personally wanted to see Boise State in the BCS. Yeah I know LSU would probably beat them mercilessly, but they have had so many years of consistent top ten and even top five finishes with big wins in BCS bowl games. I mean does anyone remember this?
